SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union — Trizha B. Ocampo, a beauty contestant from the seaside town of Agoo, was crowned ‘Mutia ti La Union’ during the pageant night coronation in celebration of the province’s 166th Foundation Anniversary celebration at the city plaza last Wednesday
It was the fifth consecutive year that a candidate from Agoo in the annual pageant bagged La Union’s most coveted beauty crown. The 22-year old Ocampo from Barangay Balwarte, is a free-lance model and 3rd-year-student in Bachelor of Arts, major in Communication, at the University of Baguio.
Ocampo won the judges nod with her answer to the question, “What is the essence of being a woman?” posed by actress Ruffa Gutierrez during the top 5-finalist portion of the pageant.
“ The essence of being a woman is to bear a child, to take
responsibility, sacrifices and unconditional love and care to help nourish the child,” Ocampo said.
Showbiz personalities Pops Fernandez and Edu Manzano hosted the event, which was also attended by Agoo town Mayor Sandra Eriguel who expressed elation over Ocampo’s coronation as the province’s most beautiful woman this year,
Others who shone bright on pageant night were: Dea Amor Refuerzo of Tubao as “Mutia ti Turismo; Angelika Mae Pagaduan of Luna, “Mutia ti Kalikasan”; First Runner-up Danica Flor Madayag of Bauang; and Second Runner-up Michelle Munar of San Fernando City.
Gov. Manuel C. Ortega welcomed the guests and celebrities from various TV networks that included singer Martin Nievera as guest performer, actors Ian Veneracion, Derek Ramsey, Rustom Padilla also known as ‘BB Gandang Hari,’ and special guest Ormoc City Congresswoman Lucy
