CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija — Eight persons, including two women, were collared Wednesday afternoon by the city police’s anti-illegal drugs operatives in raid on a suspected drug den in Barangay Barrera here, police said on Thursday.
Supt. Ponciano Zafra, city police chief, identified the suspects as Ma. Ana Maranan, 46,: Ma. Adoracion Maranan, 53, who both belonged to a popular clan here; Lamberto Santiago, 43, of Barangay Gulod and Bernie Alfonso, 40, of Barangay Pinagpanaan, both in Talavera town;
Lauro Domingo, 26, of Umangan, Aliaga; Benzon Calimquim, 27, of Barangay Rang-ayan, Science City of Munoz; Bernardo Beltran, 37, of Saranay, Guimba; and Cornelio Basa, 55, of Barangay Barrera, this city.
Zafra said that Maranan, who was nabbed allegedly with eight sachets of suspected “shabu” or methamphetamine hydrochloride with estimated value of PHP4,000, was cornered at no. 074 Maranan Apartment, Purok Masikap in Barangay Barrera.
The rest who yielded a total of 15 sachets of alleged shabu worth PHP10,000 were arrested from No. 071 of the same apartment, police said.
Zafra said operatives led by Inspector Danilo Liberato, Jr. swooped down on the apartment at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday on the strength of search warrants issued by Judge Ana Marie Joson-Viterbo.
The suspects are presently detained at the facility of Cabanatuan City Police Stations, facing charges of violation of Republic Act 9165. PNA-northboundasia.com
