LAOAG CITY —- Residents here continue to experience power interruption as the National Grid of the Philippines scheduled a power shutdown that would affect some parts of Ilocos Norte province for three days.
In a notice issued by Lilibeth Gaydowen, North Luzon Corporation Communication & Public Affairs Officer, the NGCP conducted an annual preventive maintenance and testing of its equipment at the Currimao substation and along the Currimao-San Nicolas 69 KVline.
Power outage affected the towns of Currimao, Badoc, Pinili, San Nicolas, Batac and Paoay from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
On Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the NGCP also conducted preventive maintenance and testing of equipment of the 50 MVA Transformer No. 1 at the Laoag substation and also maintenance along the Laoag-San Nicolas 69 KV line. Major shopping malls in Laoag City and San Nicolas are affected.
On Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., power outage will also affect the Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative (INEC) Laoag, Piddig, Dingras, Marcos and Burgos substations including Vintar, Sarrat, Solsona, Nueva Era, Banna, Carasi, Bacarra, Pasuquin, Burgos, Bangui, Pagudpud, Adams, and Dumalneg.
According to Gaydowen, there will also be a preventive maintenance and testing of equipment of 50MVA Transformer No. 2 at Laoag substation and regular maintenance along Laoag-Marcos 69KV line.
Normal operations will immediately resume once repairs are completed, she said. PNA
