MANILA — Operatives of the CIDG- National Capital Region (NCR), National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), and Manila Police District (MPD) arrested seven people and seized an estimated PHP15 million worth of methamphetamine hydrocloride also known as ‘shabu’ in a police operation in Binondo, Manila.
In his report to CIDG Chief, Police Director Victor P. Deona, Sr. Supt Ronald Lee, Regional Chief, said joint elements of the police force conducted a buy-bust operation inside the Epitome Flower Shop located at Pacific Center Building, Quintin Paredes St., Barangay 289, Zone 27, Binondo Manila on Tuesday afternoon.
He said police authorities found and confiscated a blue and white paper bag, a green ecobag, and a blue backpack, each containing more or less one kilo of suspected shabu.
According to Lee, the flower shop is just a front used to cover-up the illegal drug activities of the arrested subjects.
Arrested during the operation were identified as Karen Mae Tan, owner of Epitome Flower Shop, Bernadette Ortega, the flower shops’s secretary, Maricon Aina Castro, Arman Ocba, Christopher Viray, Arman Baer, and Judith Maglalang.
Meanwhile, Manila Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada personally appeared at the said place to commend the raiding team for its successful anti-illegal drug operation in the city.
Lee said the inventory of the seized items were done in an orderly manner and witnessed by community officials, manager of Pacific Center Building and members of the media.
