SANTIAGO CITY, Isabela — At least 60 suspected illegal drug personalities has voluntarily appeared at the Santiago City Police Office (SCPO) after they were urged by the police during the “Oplan Double Barrel.”
Supt. Genato Birung, CSPO Police Community Relation head, said that the coordinated efforts of the police and barangay officials including the city government of Santiago has yielded 60 illegal drug personalities who voluntarily surrendered to the police Wednesday.
Birung said the “Oplan Double Barrel” is a move of the new Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Ronald Dela Rosa in curbing illegal drug trades and activities in the country.
He said the city police personnel conducted house-to-house visit to suspected illegal drug pushers and users in the city and urged them to appear in the police station and vow not to engage anymore on illegal activity involving illegal drugs.
The 60 illegal drug personalities also signed their affidavit of undertaking before Santiago City Mayor Joseph Tan committing not to engage anymore to illegal drugs.
Birung advised the personalities involved in illegal drugs to be sincere in their promise as he warned them that returning to the illegal activity would result to harsh action of the police against them.
President Rodrigo Duterte has declared his desire to stamp out illegal drug activities in the country in three to six months during his campaign sorties and when he assumed the highest post of the country.
Duterte has ordered the police and other law enforcement agencies in the country to help his administration end illegal drug activities in the country. PNA/northboundasia.com
