MANILA — Six suspects, including three South Korean nationals, were arrested in a drug raid operation in a high-end condominium unit in Makati City on Monday night.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director Senior Supt. Guillermo Eleazar on Tuesday identified the suspects as Isaac Kho, Bang Kho Laem, Lee jin Taek, Kathlyn Nonato, Arby Diaz and a certain Soriano.
Eleazar said that the District Special Operations Unit of the QCPD served the search warrant to the suspects.
Recovered during the conduct of the drug operation are 250 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu”, drug paraphernalia, personal belongings of the suspects and a caliber .22 revolver.
According to Eleazar, one of the three South Koreans who were arrested by the police operatives, claimed that he is a member of South Korea’s National Intelligence Service.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) is now verifying the claim of one of the three South Korean suspects.
It was learned that the said group is operating in Makati City and Quezon City.
According to the arrested Koreans, they are smuggling the shabu to South Korea and they are concealing the same in envelopes and the boxes of sign pens.
The QCPD is now preparing the filing of charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002”, against the suspects. Perfecto Raymundo/PNA-northboundasia.com
