51 arrested in Pangasinan’s pre-Christmas anti-crime drive

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan -– Fifty-one persons were arrested in a series of operations dubbed as “Oplan Huli-day” conducted in the province of Pangasinan last Monday — a holiday being Bonifacio Day.

Sixty-three suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia, 17 assorted firearms, including two hand grenades and assorted ammunition were were also seized in the raids.

The operation entitled “Oplan Huli-Day and Ar-Rest Day” was implemented by the police against several suspects in 10 towns and one city of Pangasinan.

Senior Superintendent Rollie Saltat, officer-in-charge of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO), the police simultaneously served 16 search warrants for various charges such as violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and violation of RA 1059 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition).

Saltat said the confiscated firearms and illegal drugs came from the towns of Urbiztondo, Aguilar, Dasol, Anda, San Nicolas, Rosales, Binmaley, Pozorrubio, Urdaneta City, Mangatarem and Mabini.

He credited the successful operations to the coordinated efforts between the police and local government units as well as the general public as he encouraged their involvement even more in crime reporting.

Community involvement, he said, complements the PNP’s Oplan Lambat Sibat.

Saltat explained the simultaneous police operations were designed to make the coming Yuletide season as peaceful as possible and ensure the public in Pangasinan a crime-free holidays. PNA
