50K tourists expected to join Laboracay on Labor Day

BORACAY ISLAND, Aklan — At least 50,000 tourists are expected to flock this famous resort island for the celebration of Labor Day.

The Malay Tourism Office said the week-long celebration dubbed as Laboracay attracts thousands of vacationers for the numerous events and promotional activities sponsored by various networks and companies.

Now on its 3rd year, Laboracay activities start from April 27 to May 3 with highlights during Labor Day on May 1.

Malay Chief Tourism Officer Felix delos Santos said security preparation as well as clean-up activities are already in place for Laboracay.

During last year’s Laboracay week, the tourism office recorded a total of 50,099 tourist arrivals.

In line with this, members of the Boracay Tourist Assistance Center are also on full alert for the expected influx of tourists.

Police Insp. Jose Mark Anthony Gesulga, deputy chief of BTAC said over a hundred police and force multipliers have tightened security especially at the White Beach area where most of the events will be held.

Added police personnel and tourist assistance desks will also be deployed in different strategic locations here, Gesulga said.

He said tightened security will also be implemented in bigger party venues.

Among this year’s anticipated Laboracay event is the ZookOut 2016: Prelude Edition, the Sunkissed 2016 and the Nestea Beach Volleyball Tournament. PNA/northboundasia.com
