SANTIAGO CITY, Isabela — The Santiago City Police Office (SCPO)– traffic group has registered 502 road accidents from January to October this year.

Supt. Genato Birung, traffic group head of SCPO, said the 502 accidents include eight deaths and 238 self-accident cases that led to physical injuries, and 258 accidents leading to damage to vehicles.

Birung said that most of the accidents happened during night time and dawn based on the police blotter of SCPO – traffic group.

The SCPO – traffic group is continuously conducting safety driving education to motorists in the city and advised them not to drive while they are under the influence of liquor.

As the police proposed to the city government on the purchase of alcoholic breath analyzer, they are giving tips to motorists on safety driving to avoid road accidents.

The police expects that the alcoholic breath analyzer will soon be provided to them to effectively implement Republic Act 10586 otherwise known as the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Act of 2013.

“We are advising the motorists plying in the highways and streets of the city to be extra careful in driving their vehicle to avoid accident and be not under the influence of liquor while driving,” Birung added. PNA-northboundasia.com
