5 Pangasinan LGUs declare suspension of classes on Monday

DAGUPAN CITY — Five local government units (LGUs) in Pangasinan declared suspension of classes from pre-school, elementary to high school, including senior high school, in their respective jurisdictions on Monday, Aug. 15, due to moderate to heavy rains spawned by the intensified southwest monsoon.

The LGUs posted their respective declarations in their Facebook accounts Sunday afternoon for the information of all concerned.

Based on their posts, classes are suspended in Alaminos and San Carlos cities, as well as in the municipalities of Lingayen, Mangaldan and Calasiao.

The declarations were made by Mayors Arthur Celeste of Alaminos City, Joseres Resuello of San Carlos City, Josefina Castaneda of Lingayen, Bona Fe Parayno of Mangaldan, and Joseph Armand Bauzon of Calasiao.

In his FB post, Bauzon also cited the rising floodwaters in Calasiao caused by intensified monsoon rains as his reason for declaring the suspension of classes on Monday. PNA/northboundasia.com
