5.9-MAGNITUDE QUAKE JOLTS EASTERN INDONESIA

JAKARTA — A 5.9-magnitude earthquake rocked the eastern part of Indonesia early Friday, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said.

The quake, which jolted Maluku province at 6:10 a.m. Jakarta time Friday (2310 GMT Thursday), was centered 242 km northwest Maluku Tenggara Barat with a depth of 117 km under sea bed, an official of the agency told Xinhua.

No casualties were reported so far.
