LAOAG CITY — A magnitude 5.5 earthquake rattled Ilocos Norte province at 12 noon Saturday, state seismologists said.
Its epicenter was located 49 kilometers southwest of Laoag City, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake was tectonic in origin with a depth of 41 kilometers.
Intensity 5 was felt in Laoag City, Pasuquin, Burgos, Sarrat, and Paoay in Ilocos Norte and in Burgos, Ilocos Sur.
Intensity 4 was also felt in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur and intensity 3 in nearby Sinait, Ilocos Sur and Pamplona, Cagayan.
