48 drug pushers, users, runners surrender in Dagupan

DAGUPAN CITY — Forty eight drug users, pushers and runners from Barangays Lucao, Malued and Lasip Grande in Dagupan surrendered to Mayor Belen Fernandez and the city police on Tuesday at the City Museum.

“I am glad that these residents involved in illegal drugs have decided to voluntarily surrender and sign an affidavit of undertaking with the Dagupan City Police that they will stop engaging in illegal drugs activities,” Fernandez said.

This was the second group of people involved in illegal drugs who surrendered to the mayor and the police. The first group, composed of 18 persons, surrendered to the mayor last July 8.

Those who surrendered were accompanied by their respective barangay captains.

Fernandez, however, said that the surrender of these people doesn’t mean that they are no longer answerable to the law as they will still be placed under surveillance by the police.

“I hope that this is the start of rebuilding their lives and do what is right this time,” the mayor said. PNA/northboundasia.com
