MANILA — Batangas Earth and Fire Festival makes a comeback with a Sunset Duathlon to be held in the lakeshore of Brgy. Poblacion, Balete, Batangas on Jan. 30, 2016.
The Batangas Earth and Fire Festival 2016, the most awaited event by athletes and tourists, will feature cycling competition, 5k-20k-3k run, and bike relay that take participants to a rugged trail in the scenic roads of Balete.
During Tuesday’s Philippines Sportswriters Association (PSA) Sports Forum in Malate, race director Andres Alisuag III said the main objective of the event was “to promote tourism of Balete, Batangas kasi we have the volcano, we have the lake and we have the endemic specie, which is tawilis na doon lang makikita so yun yung mga gusto naming ipromote that’s why we are holding that every year sa Balete, Batangas.”
He also said “the advocacy is to promote healthy lifestyle and we want to promote cycling as well and running as alternative for transport so that’s why ganun yung mga activities na ginagawa namin.”
Everyone is invited to participate in this event. Participants can compete as solo or team of two members wherein team can be compose of both male or female or mixed with ages 16-40 and above.
The registration fee for solo participants is Php. 800 and Php. 1,300 for teams.
Other exciting activities to watch out are the aqua sports activities and boat rides in the morning and an after-party, fire dancing and a fireworks display in the afternoon till evening.
The event is supported by Lima Park Hotel (located in Malvar-Lipa) and First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (FAITH) and held in partnership with the local government administration of Balete, Batangas. PNA/northboundasia.com
