CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela — Police and environment office personnel confiscated more than 4,000 board feet of abandoned common hardwood lumber here Friday.
Community environment and natural resources officer (CENRO), Artemio Gavino Jr., said the bulk of lumber was seized after the police received reports of lumber abandoned in Purok 5 in Villa Concepcion in Cauayan City, Isabela province.
Gavino said they believe the lumber came from Barangay Tappa in San Mariano, and was transported via the Rogus-Villa Concepcion road but was abandoned before it got to a police-military checkpoint in Villa Concepcion.
He said his office and the police are trying to identify the persons responsible for leaving the sawn lumber, which has been brought to the CENRO in Cauayan City for safekeeping. PNA-northboundasia.com
