LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — Four drowning incidents were reported on Good Friday in different towns in Pangasinan, according to the provincial police.
The victims were identified by the police as Mariun Alnas, 26, of Barangay Aringin, Moncada, Tarlac who drowned at 12:10 p.m. Friday along the Agno River in Barangay Laoac, Alcala; Artemio Villegas, 35, of Barangay Sta. Cruz, San Jacinto, who drowned at 2:30 p.m. along the Lim-mingaleng River; Oliver Abaog, 7, a Grade 1 pupil of Poblacion, Pozorrubio who drowned in a swimming pool at 03 Resort in Tavera West, Poblacion at about 12:30 p.m.; and Louie Aviles, 34, who drowned along the Agno River in Barangay Domalandan East, Lingayen where he resides, also at 12:30 p.m.
The police report indicated that Alnas, Villegas and Aviles were under the influence of liquor when they were swimming.
Meanwhile, the seven-year-old Abaoag was last seen by relatives playing around the pool where he might have fallen and drowned, unnoticed by his companions.
No drowning incident was reported during the Holy Week in any part of the beach in Pangasinan where Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) teams were posted by local government units.
Up to 10,000 beachcombers visited the Lingayen beach on Maunday Thursday and Good Friday, according to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PODRRMO). Leonardo Micua/PNA-northboundasia.com
