BAUANG, La Union – Four men were killed when the tricycle they were riding collided head on with a truck at around 11:00 p.m. Monday in Barangay Baccuit Norte here.
Police identified the fatalities as Rommel Abines, driver of the ill-fated, and his passengers Jericho Rosal, Gerald Abenojar; and Eugene Martinez of Barangay Cabaritan Sur, and Barangay Bally, respectively of Naguilian town.
Investigation showed that the tricycle was going in the north direction when the driver tried but failed to overtake another tricycle and instead bumped into the incoming Isuzu truck driven by a certain Jason Dole, 29, a resident of Barangay San Juan, San Miguel, Bulacan.
Three of the victims were killed on the spot, while Rosal died while undergoing treatment at the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center in San Fernando City.
