4 construction workers hurt as old bridge collapses in Pangasinan

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — Four construction workers were hurt when the old San Jose bridge collapsed in the middle while they were dismantling it at noon Tuesday, according to the police.

They were rushed to the Lingayen District Hospital for treatment after they were retrieved from the wreckage by co-workers.

However, one of them, who was reportedly seriously injured, was transferred to the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan for further treatment.

The victims have not yet been identified.

No motorists were hurt as the old bridge is not being used anymore since the new concrete bridge was completed and opened late last year.

The collapsed bridge used to be a vital link between the towns of Lingayen and Bugallon. Leonardo Micua/
