SAN JOSE CITY, Nueva Ecija – Three armed suspected drug pushers were killed while some PHP500,000 worth of shabu were recovered in an encounter with police in Barangay Palestina here shortly after Thursday midnight.
Senior Supt. Manuel Cornel, Nueva Ecija police director, identified two of the fatalities as Salman Macapundag, a resident of Baclaran, Parañaque City and Ariel Samonte of Novaliches, Quezon City.
He said the third suspect is yet to be identified.
Manuel said the operation was hatched after the office of Supt. Reynaldo dela Cruz, San Jose City police chief, received an information on the transport of illegal drugs supposed from Metro Manila.
Dela Cruz said they set up an entrapment operation after they received a tip involving a white Sedan with plate number TBB-733.
Police said after a five-minute exchange of fire ensued, resulting in the death of the three suspects.
Aside from the 40 big plastic sachets of shabu, the police also recovered one cal .45 pistol, one cal .22 rifle and one cal. 38 revolver, police added. PNA/ northboundasia.com
