3 persons killed in road mishap in Nueva Ecija

CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija — Three persons, including two women, were killed when the tricycle they were riding collided with a speeding SUV along Sta. Rosa-Dingalan Road in Barangay Soledad, Sta. Rosa, in this province early Monday morning.

Senior Supt. Manuel Cornel, Nueva Ecija police director, identified the fatalities as Mark Anthony Gabriel, 22, the tricycle driver and resident of the same village; Mary Grace Garcia, 38; and Juvy Ann Garcia, 14, of Barangay Bagong Silang, Cabiao, Nueva Ecija.

The driver of the SUV, Mitsubishi Montero with plate no. ABI 5224, identified as certain Jose Reyes, of Barangay Batitang, Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija, was placed under police custody.

Reyes is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicide and damage to properties, according to the police.

Investigation showed the tricycle was traveling to the west while the SUV was taking the opposite direction.

”However, upon reaching near Soledad Elementary School, the SUV occupied the lane of the tricycle, resulting to head on collision,” police probers said.

Due to the strong impact of the collision, police said the motorcycle was detached from the sidecar, “wherein the driver, together with his passengers sustained severe injuries in different parts of their bodies” and died instantly. PNA / northboundasia.com
