LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — Three minors drowned in Pangasinan — two of them along the Angalacan River in Barangay Dilan, Pozorrubio, on April 8, and one in a swimming pool of a private resort in Sta. Barbara town on April 9, according to the police.
The drowning victims in the Angalacan River were Jenica Lara, 13, of Barangay Malabago, Mangaldan and Grade 6 pupil of the Nantangalan Elementary School, and Michelle Tamondong, 11, a Grade 5 pupil of the Nantangalan Elementary School in Pozorrubio.
According to their relatives, the two girls left their respective homes at past 3 p.m. of April 8 without permission. When they failed to return home at 5 p.m., their parents started to worry and began looking for them.
At about 11 p.m. that day, the body of Lara was found floating along the Angalacan River. However, it was only at about 1:30 p.m. of April 9 that the body of Tamondong was found.
Meanwhile, a four-year-old boy named Jay-R de la Cruz drowned at Bonoy’s Resort in Barangay Leet, Sta. Barbara.
A report said that the parents of the boy left him beside the swimming pool alone but while the boy was walking there, he slipped and fell into the water and drowned.
The boy was brought to the Mapandan Community Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. PNA/northboundasia.com
