CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union – Three La Union police officers were seriously wounded in a shootout with a wanted person whom they were about to arrest in Barangay Cacamilingan Norte in Camiling, Tarlac last Monday.
Chief Inspector Bernard Pagaduan, chief intelligence officer of the La Union police, sustained gunshot wound on his leg, while Senior Inspector Juan Jahyar Maggay, chief of the Tubao, La Union police station, was shot in the abdomen, while PO2 Ryan Ponce, suffered injuries on his neck.
They were shot by Enrico Gil Magarde, alias Ikong, 50, a native of Barangay Leones West, Tubao, La Union, who was wanted for illegal possession of firearms, explosives and illegal drugs.
Suspect was a high value target and number four in the wanted list of La Union police.
Reports showed that the team of La Union police led by Pagaduan together with the personnel of Camiling police station went to the hiding place of the suspect to serve the warrant of arrest but Magarde allegedly fired a high-powered gun) while the troop were alighting from their vehicles.
The policemen immediately fired back that resulted to the death of the suspect.
Pagaduan and Ponce were rushed to the Sto. Niño Camiling Hospital while Maggay was brought for treatment at the Jecson Hospital in Tarlac City. JUN ELIAS/Northbound Philippines News
