CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela — Three members of a family were confined at the hospital Sunday after consuming suspected poisonous mushrooms found at a banana plantation in Barangay San Isidro here.
Cauayan City District Hospital officials identified the hospitalized family members as Felicisimo Dela Cruz Jr., 32; his wife, Rochelle Dela Cruz, 29; and their mother, Teresita Dela Cruz, 55, all from San Isidro village.
Teresita said they suffered nausea, headache and severe diarrhea after eating the cooked mushrooms they had gathered from the farm on Thursday.
Hospital officials have cautioned villagers to be “extra wary” on eating wild and poorly prepared mushrooms to avoid health risks. PNA/northboundasia.com
