24 police personnel involved in slay of Albuera mayor relieved

MANILA — The 24 police personnel involved in the operations that led to the killing of Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr have been relieved from their posts.

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa on Thursday ordered the immediate relief of the 18 police officers from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit 8 and six Regional Maritime Unit 8 personnel.

In a statement, Dela Rosa assured the PNP’s full cooperation into the probe.

“Let me assure everyone that there will be no whitewash in the investigation; ferry out the truth; and slap appropriate sanctions or charges to our personnel who have committed violations,” he said.

The police personnel relieved were:

CIDG 8 personnel: Supt. Marvin Wynn Marcos and Santi Noel Gaspang Matira, Chief Insp. Leo Diao Laraga, Senior Insps. Eric Palattao Constantino, Deogracias Pedong Diaz III and Fritz Bioco Blanco, SPO4s Melvin Mendiola Cayobit and Juanito Ampado Duarte, SPO2 Alphinor Milla Serrano, Jr., SPO1 Benjamin Layague Dacallos, PO3s Norman Tiu Abellanosa and Johnny Abuda Ibañez, PO2 Neil Patrimonio Centino, PO1s Lloyd Ortinez Ortigueza, Bhernard Rodriguez Orpilla, Kristal Jane Briones Gisma, Jerlan Sadia Cabiyaan and Divine Grace Baclas Songalia.

RMU personnel: Chief Insp. Calixto Cabardo Canillas, Jr., Insp. Lucresito Adana Candilosas, SPO2 Antonio Romangca Docil, SPO1 Mark Christian Castillo Cadilo, PO2s John Ruel Baldevia Doculan and Jaime Pacuan Bacsal.
