23 more bodies recovered from Cebu landslide site

CITY OF NAGA — A total of 23 more bodies were retrieved Friday from the landslide site in Barangay Tinaan here, bringing the total number of fatalities to 29.

As of 2:45 p.m., confirmed dead were: Althea Siton, 4; Olivia Maratas, 63; Anabel Lobiano, 40; Romeo Jabonilla, 40; Bianca, 19, and Michael Versales, 17; Janine, 5 and Jasmine Campanilla, 10; Jillian, 12, and Lauro Campanilla; Laura Capoy, 52; Francisco Yapac; Crystal Jean Siton; Raul Gepuit; Nina Siton; Mark Laurence Campanilla; Juanito, 42, and Emeliana Siton, 85; Eliasah Siton, 11; and Sheila Ann Panilas.

Investigators have yet to identify eight other fatalities.

City of Naga Mayor Kristine Vanessa Chiong said there are now 897 displaced families and 2,836 individuals in five evacuation centers.

Chiong said eight people were also rescued.

Chiong added that she also issued a cease and desist order on all mining operations, small scale quarries, sand and gravel extractions, and related activities in the city Thursday night. Luel Galarpe/PNA-northboundasia.com
