LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — A three-day sports event is slated by the Provincial Sports Development and Management Council (PSDMC) on July 21, 22, 23 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) in Lingayen to select athletes that will represent the province in the Batang Pinoy Luzon Leg set October 26-29 in Vigan City.
PSDMC Executive Officer Operania said some 2,000 athletes from Pangasinan I, Pangasinan 2, Alaminos City, San Carlos City and Urdaneta City will take part
Batang Pinoy is a grassroots-based sports undertaking by the Philippine Sports Commission which aims to widen the base in the selection of potential athletes for national and international competitions.
The sports events will be participated in by athletes from two age groups: the Under 13 and 13-15 years old.
The event aims to develop and promote sports through sports programs instilling teamwork, self-discipline and excellence in athletes, said Oprania.
The events include: archery, arnis, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, chess, cycling, karatedo, sepak takraw, swimming, table tennis, taekwando, tennis, volleyball, wresting and wu shu. lvmicua/PNA-northboundasia.com
