CAMP BGEN OSCAR M. FLORENDO, Jan. 15 (PNA)– Region 1 acting police director Chief Supt. Ericson T. Velasquez lauded members of the Alilem Police Station in Ilocos Sur for arresting a suspected marijuana courier and confiscated from him 20 marijuana bricks and rolls during a checkpoint operation in Alilem town Thursday morning.

Velasquez identified the suspect as Rolando D. Kios, alias “Lando”, 23, of Sitio Indadangan, Kayapa, Bakun, Benguet.

The Alilem police chief Sr. Insp. Joel P. Lagto said the immediate setting up of a checkpoint along Brown Street came after a tipster reported that a suspected courier will be transporting illegal drugs on board a passenger jeepney.

Lawmen flagged down a multi-colored jeepney and discovered a sack with name tag “Lando”.

They requested the driver to open the sack and found out five bricks and 12 cylindrical rolls of marijuana fruiting tops wrapped with brown packing tapes which the driver of the jeepney confirmed as belonging to Kios.

A bag containing three marijuana rolls also allegedly owned by the suspect was also confiscated.

The confiscated marijuana stuff weighing 17.8 kilograms was valued at Php 455,000 based on the Dangerous Drug Board’s standard. PNA / northboundasia.com
