2 MEN ARRESTED ANEW FOR ILLEGAL DRUGS IN DAGUPAN

DAGUPAN CITY — Two persons were arrested by policemen at 4 p.m. of Jan. 2 after coming from Sitio Silungan in Barangay Bonuan Binloc, a known drug den in Dagupan City.

Randy Arieta, 47, a security guard of Sitio Pagkakaisa, Bonuan Gueset in Dagupan, and Roque Ugaban, 42, a tricycle driver, of Sitio Calarin in Malued, Dagupan City were on board a motorized tricycle when they were intercepted by policemen implementing Operation Sita (frisking) along the highway in Sitio Palatong, Bonuan Binloc.

Policemen honked the horn of their mobile unit in a bid to stop the tricycle but the latter sped away, resulting in a chase.

Subsequently, the tricycle was cornered and the patrollers immediately conducted verification on the persons on board.

During the verification, the policemen saw Arieta throw a cigarette pack containing three small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu to the ground.

The suspects were immediately arrested and apprised of their constitutional rights in dialect known to and understood by them, including the nature of their offense.

They were brought to Region 1 Medical Center for medical examination and turned over to the investigation section of Dagupan City for further investigation and proper disposition.

A case for violation of Section 11, Article 11 of Republic Act No. 9165 was prepared against them. PNA/northboundasia.com
