2 killed, 8 nabbed, Php.4-M illegal drugs and guns seized in Laguna operations

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna — Joint operatives of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (PAIDSOTF), Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC), Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) and the city’s police force, on Wednesday conducted the third anti-illegal drugs operations dubbed as “Oplan Sagasa” at Area 7 Parian Village here considered as “drug dumpsite”.

Armed with 16 search warrants, the police operatives confiscated “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) worth approximately Php 400,000, two Caliber 45 pistols, a hand grenade and arrested eight drug personalities, killed two for resisting arrest while five managed to escape.

According to Police Superintendent Ricardo Dalmacia, chief, PAIDSOTF, the operation was the third conducted this month and yet there are still illegal drugs confiscated showing “fearless defiance” of the law in spite of illegal drugs operations previously conducted by the Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 4A and the city’s police force.

”This is a clear manifestation of fearless defiance of the law in spite of the illegal drugs operations conducted by the PDEA less than a month ago,” Dalmacia said.

The area was considered as “drug dumpsite” where transactions have been made amounting to millions weekly based on the monitoring of the police.

“It is the goal of our provincial director to make this area ‘zero’ on drugs. After this operation, we will form a left-behind force like what we did in Looc village (in this city) where we confiscated two kilos of drugs,” he added.

Meanwhile, one of the targets of the operation was Alea Matanguihan, the alleged leader of a new drug group but managed to escape. The suspect’s partner identified as Nonie Matanguihan blocked the operatives with gunfire, prompting the cops to retaliate, killing him and was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Recovered from his residence was a caliber 45 pistol and ammunition.

In another incident, suspect Danilo Pisigan resisted arrest and engaged the raiding team in a shootout that resulted in his instantaneous death. A caliber 45 pistol and a hand grenade was found in his position.

The arrested suspects were brought to the provincial custodial cell in Santa Cruz town while the confiscated pieces of evidence were subjected to examination and verification. PNA-northboundasia.com
