LEGAZPI CITY — A driver and his companion died while two others were critically injured when the truck, loaded with coco lumber flitches, they were riding in plunged into a deep ravine along the national highway in Sitio Nipa, Barangay Basicao Coastal in Pio Duran town, Albay province on Wednesday afternoon.
Albay police spokesperson, Senior Insp. Mayvelle Gonzales, identified the fatalities as Celpops Bondoc Encisa, 34, driver of the truck (WAU-783) and resident of Barangay Centro Occidental in Polangui town, and Ronnie Nova of Barangay Caratagan, Pio Duran.
Gonzales said the injured — the driver’s wife identified as May Saminiano Encisa, 35, and a certain Diogracias Perillo, 47 — were taken by residents to the Pio Duran District Hospital.
Investigation showed the accident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. as the truck was traversing the national highway. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which fell into the ravine.
