2-day special hiring for overseas jobs in Laoag

LAOAG CITY — Another Manila-based job recruitment agency is in Laoag for a two-day special hiring activity which kicked off on Thursday.

Held at the Provincial Capitol cafeteria from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., applicants line up for a one-on-one interview and submission of application forms.

If a match is found, an applicant’s papers will be immediately processed for deployment.

In partnership with Gold Icon International Manpower Services, the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) under the provincial government of Ilocos Norte has been assisting jobseekers to match their credentials to local and foreign employers.

According to Ann Marie Lizette Bitancor, head of the PESO-Ilocos Norte, thousands of jobs await Ilocano workers here and abroad.

Through the PESO, recruitment companies line up for job fairs at the Ilocos Norte Capitol cafeteria.

Since January, a number of domestic and foreign employers have been reaching out to Ilocos Norte to hire additional manpower.

Among the in-demand jobs are: registered nurses, caregivers, accountants, engineers, technicians, sales assistants, welders, electricians, painters, beauticians and domestic workers to be deployed mostly in Middle East, Europe, Australia and Canada among others.

Over the past five years since the Task Force Trabaho program was launched in Ilocos Norte, over 50,000 jobs have been generated, increasing Ilocos Norte’s employment by more than 35 %.

Though jobseekers can also conveniently search and apply for jobs at the Ilocos Norte online jobs portal, a dedicated website for jobseekers and employers in the province, most of the applicants still prefer to show up for job interview and sign up forms during job fairs or special recruitment activity.
