2 cops, fireman nabbed in drug buy-bust


ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) on Thursday announced the arrest of five people, including two policemen and a fireman, in anti-drug operations in Zamboanga del Norte.

Chief Insp. Helen Galvez, PRO-9 information officer, identified the suspects as SPO1 Gilbert James, 46; SPO1 Raul Maguinsay, 47; FO3 Ramil Mosqueda, 48; Rolando Mosqueda, 57, retired fireman; Leopoldo Dangase, retired jail officer; and, Emmanuel Velasco, 39.

Galvez said the older Mosqueda was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 6:58 p.m. Tuesday at Room 315 of Pepic’s lodge in Barangay Central Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte.

James, who is assigned with the Provincial Intelligence and Detective Management Branch, was caught seated in a bed holding two cut rolled aluminum foil.

Velasco was arrested in a separate buy-bust operation around 10:30 p.m. on Room 206 on the same night at the same lodging house.

Maguinsay and Dangase were caught in the act holding hard drugs paraphernalia while on pot session in the same room.

The younger Mosqueda was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday in Barangay Santa Isabel, Dipolog City.

Galvez said the buy-bust operations were carried out jointly by the police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Dipolog City.

Confiscated from the suspects were marked money, suspected shabu, .9-mm pistol with ammunition, mobile phones, motorcycle and prohibited drug paraphernalia.

Galvez said appropriate charges will be filed against them. TPGJR/PNA
