LAOAG CITY — Owing to the expansion of two multinational business process outsourcing (BPO) companies here, the Public Employment Services Office (PESO) will conduct another round of special recruitment at the Provincial Capitol on March 22-24.
PESO officer-in-charge Ann Marie Lizette Bitancor-Atuan said Alorica Teleservices, Inc. and Accenture are in need of more employees for positions, such as accounting assistant, BPO resource management group associate manager, and operational excellence senior analyst.
The PESO will also conduct career coaching for applicants to guide them properly on what to expect once they are employed with BPO companies.
From an initial 200 call center workers, Accenture aims to hire 5,000 more as it expands its delivery center in the Ilocos region to provide health and finance administration for its global clients across Europe and North America.
Atuan said Alorica Teleservices intends to employ more than 100 workers.
In 2014, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) awarded Metro Laoag for having the best information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) infrastructure and for becoming a part of the Next Wave City, a reference to alternative IT-BPM destinations to Metro Manila and Metro Cebu.
This paved the way for the entry of major BPO companies here as the Ilocos Norte government continues to invite more investors and create stable jobs for Ilocanos. Leilanie Adriano/PNA – northboundasia.com
