2 Baguio Illegal Drugs Suspects Arrested In La Union

CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union – Two Baguio-based suspected drug pushers who tried to shoot it out with authorities were arrested during a buy-bust operation at the plaza of San Fernando City, La Union Monday night.

A third suspect, a certain Christian Alviar, leader of an illegal drugs syndicate in Baguio, escaped during the operation which was conducted by the anti-narcotics agents of the Ilocos regional office of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the local police.

Bismark Bengwayan, Ilocos PDEA information officer, identified the suspects as John Michael Garcia and his live-in partner Kindra Gail Otinguey, both members of the Sadeek Drug Group based in Baguio City.

Investigation showed that while the buy-bust operation was ongoing, one of the suspects, John Michael, apparently sensed an entrapment, and allegedly pulled a gun and fired at the arresting team, prompting the lawmen to fire back.

John Michael allegedly threw away his gun, which has not been recovered, according to a police report.

Seized from the suspects were four sachets of the banned methamphethamine hydrochloride or shabu, a Suzuki motorcycle and P5,000 marked money.

Otinguey and Garcia have been detained at a holding area of the PDEA regional office here for the proper filing of criminal cases in violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and RA 10591 or the illegal possession of firearms act . JUN ELIAS and ERWIN BELEO/
