SANTA ANA, Cagayan — An 18-year-old Chinese woman was saved from possible drowning on Sunday (June 24) by Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) substation workers, just 300 meters away from the Country Inn Beach Resort in Centro village here, according to a PCG report sent to the Philippine News Agency on Wednesday.
Rescued was Xiong Won Jing, who had just resigned from her work at the Eastern Hawaii Casino here.
A 51-year-old fisherman, James Villanueva of Palawig village, spotted Xiong who appeared to have difficulty swimming. He reported the incident to PCG personnel, who then rushed to the area to rescue the woman.
An interpreter said Xiong has been suffering from depression since she left her work. She was brought to the Santa. Ana Community Hospital in Centro village for medical check-up and found to be in good physical condition by the attending doctor.
Xiong was then turned over to Rudy Chandra, Eastern Hawaii Casino human resource officer, for care and custody. Bill Visaya/PNA-northboundasia.com
