ARITAO, Nueva Vizcaya — Some 100 farmers received tilapia fingerlings from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) held at the municipal hall here over the weekend.
The fingerlings distribution aims to help supplement the recipient-farmers’ income, according to Municipal agriculturist Denia M. Fragat.
The program aims to give farmers extra income by helping them increase their farm produce, Fragta said adding that the beneficiary-farmers are from the 24 villages of this towns.
She said the 100,000 free distribution of tilapia fingerlings of the 100 farmers will continue until the end of this year.
Last year, she said the MAO also distributed 600,000 tilapia fingerlings to the 400 farmers for about 20,000 hectares fish pond in the 22 barangays.
The BFAR has also coordinated with the other provinces and municipalities in the Cagayan Valley Region for the fingerlings distribution to farmers interested to venture in tilapia culture raising. PNA / northboundasia.com
