1 Killed, 1 Seriously Injured In La Union 3-Vehicle Collision

BAUANG, La Union – A 28-year-old motorcycle driver was killed and another was wounded in a 3-vehicle collision along the national road at Barangay Quinavite at around 11:50 p.m. last Saturday here.
Chief Inspector Silverio Ordinado, Jr., La Union police information officer, identified the fatality as Dan Lester Baladad, 28, resident of Barangay Tanqui, in nearby San Fernando City; and the severely injured victim as Elijah Danniel Sarmiento, 21, of Barangay Bacuit Norte here.
According to investigation, Baladad’s motorcycle was hit by a sports utility vehicle or SUV (NL 8747) driven by a certain Edgardo F. Canlas, 40, of Tunasan, Muntinlupa City.
Ordinado added that both Baladad and Canlas were traversing in opposite directions when the tricycle driven by Sarmiento collided with the SUV.
Baladad, Sarmiento and Canlas were rushed to the Ilocos Training Regional Medical Center in San Fernando City. Baladad was declared dead-on-arrival due to head injuries,  while Sarmiento is still on medical treatment. Canlas sustained minor injuries.
The Bauang police are now conducting investigation to determine the amount of damages of all vehicles and looking for possible responsibility and accountability for said damages including criminal liability. Erwin Beleo/Northbound Philippines News
