BAUANG, La Union –A motorcycle rider was killed, while five others were injured in a three-vehicle collision involving a trailer truck with a tractor in tow along the national highway in Barangay Payocpoc Norte Este, last Tuesday.
Chief Inspector Rex Balanban Buyucan, municipal police chief here, identified the fatality as Eduardo Balagot, 67, address unknown, who was rushed to the nearest hospital here but was declared dead on arrival.
Balagot’s motorcycle crashed into the trailer truck driven by Lawrence Moster, 41, of San Benito in Aringay town.
Those injured were Vita C. Balagot, 64; Marissa B. Capitan, 32, and her children John Carlo, 3, and one-year old Carla, all residents of Payocpoc, this town. They were passengers of a public trike driven by Harson Sastrodemedjo, also of Payocpoc, who was also hurt in the incident.
The trailer truck also hit the trike which was totally wrecked. Moster was allegedly under the influence of liquor and was detained here for investigation for possible charges against him.
Buyucan said that Moster was southbound but lost control of his vehicle encroaching the northbound lane and bumped the incoming vehicles.
Buyucan added that the truck and the tractor were both both registered under the name of Jay Dominador Gonzales Go of Barangay Nalasin, Bangued, Abra. ERWIN G. BELEO/NorthboundPH
