MANILA — Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Wednesday filed before the Pasay Prosecutor’s Office a libel case against blogger Rey Joseph “RJ” Nieto known for running the Thinking Pinoy blog.
Trillanes’ complaint stemmed from Nieto’s Facebook post that US President Donald Trump had called him “little narco.”
The senator, in his six-page complaint, said that Nieto constituted “fake news” and did not even cite the source or the news outfit in his post.
He added that the official website where transcripts of the US President’s press engagements are available never mentioned his name in any of its transcripts.
“Nieto’s post was clearly made solely for the purpose of besmirching my reputation and name,” Trillanes said in his complaint.
Trillanes said he wanted Nieto to be held liable for the damages suffered and/or expenses he incurred.
In a Facebook post, Nieto poked fun at the senator although he had yet to receive a copy of Trillanes’ complaint.
“Wouldn’t it be fun if it starts with, ‘This is where your taxes go?’” Nieto said, obviously slighting the senator.
Nieto also quipped about amending the constitution”to require psychiatric tests for senators.” PNA-northboundasia.com
