Cops, soldiers hunt killers of pawnshop manager

LIBUNGAN, North Cotabato — Police and military have launched a massive manhunt against two men last seen with a manager of a money remittance company who was later found dead in an irrigation canal.

Witnesses provided the Libungan town police office with vital information that identified the two men last seen leaving Alamada, North Cotabato on Thursday afternoon with Dexter Alan Capio, 30, manager of Palawan Pawnshop and Pera Padala center branch in the said municipality.

According to Senior Inspector Aniceto Acobo, Libungan town police chief, Capio’s remains were found by residents dumped in an irrigation canal in Barangay Batiocan Friday dawn.

He was believed to have been mauled to death, a police official investigating the case said.

Acobo said the police are following up a lead that could identify the suspects and their eventual prosecution.

The police chief said Capio’s relatives said he has no known enemies and that he has no threats to his life.

“We are exploring all other angles and identifying the people with him days before he was found dead,” Acobo said in an interview.

Police ruled out involvement of the victim in illegal drugs. Edwin Fernandez/PNA-northboundasia.com
