Disaster preparedness training set for Ilocos Norte capitol employees

LAOAG CITY, Aug. 11 — Employees of the Ilocos Norte government will level up their knowledge and skills on disaster preparedness particularly on what to do in case of a bomb threat.

At least three representatives from every department will join the training on disaster preparedness and response workshop set on August 16-18 at the Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena, courtesy of the Office of the Civil Defense Region 1 in partnership with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management and Resiliency Council.

Michael Pebenito of the PDRRMRC said Friday the participants will be specifically trained how to take blood pressure and oriented about improvised explosive devices and how K-9 operations work.

After the training, each department of the Capitol shall acquire its own emergency or medical kit.

Pebenito underscored how important it is for employees to protect themselves during disaster and to have a first aid kit.

Last Tuesday, the OCD and PDRRMRC also trained about 50 pregnant women and those with small children at the Rivermount Hotel, Sarrat town on disaster preparedness in an effort to strengthen quick response and avoid possible loss of lives and properties.

Meanwhile, the reserve command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines is also reaching out to local government units in the entire province of Ilocos Norte for the conduct of advance search and rescue training. PNA-northboundasia.com
