5 hurt, truck burned in LPG tank explosion in Bataan

HERMOSA, Bataan, Aug. 10–Police on Thursday reported that five truck helpers sustained minor burns while a delivery truck was burned when two tanks of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) used in cooking allegedly exploded due to a possible leak at a garage here Wednesday night.

Fire started at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at the garage of a softdrinks distributor in Barangay Mandama, this town where five truck helpers were cooking, using two LPG tanks, police said.

Report showed that fire was placed under control at 11:00 p.m.

SFO3 Busoler Tayag, Hermosa fire marshal, confirmed that five truck helpers were injured and rushed to the hospital in Dinalupihan, Bataan.

He said that burned were an Isuzu Elf truck, rear tire and some parts of a softdrink delivery truck, portion of the garage and the makeshift house where the helpers were cooking.

“The cause of fire and the amount of damage are still under investigation,” Tayag said. PNA-northboundasia.com
