Guv orders localized suspension of classes in Pangasinan

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — Gov. Amado Espino III has ordered localized cancellation of classes in Pangasinan due to Tropical Storm “Gorio” which has intensified into a severe tropical storm enhancing occasional heavy rains over the western section of Luzon.

Espino, however, said that based on the last monitoring of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), as of 9 p.m. of July 27, most parts of Pangasinan are not affected by the storm and only some areas in western Pangasinan have experienced heavy to moderate rains.

In his memorandum Friday, Gov. Espino called on all the municipal and city mayors who are the chairmen in their respective Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils in to use their discretion for localized cancellation of classes.

He advised all Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices in towns and cities to stay alert and ordered all DRRMOs in towns along the 14 coastal areas of Pangasinan to prevent their fisherfolks from venturing out to the sea.

There are now 22 towns and cities of Pangasinan, including Dagupan, that have declared suspension of classes from pre-school to high school all over Pangasinan as if 9a.m. on Friday. LVMIcuaPNA-northboundasia.com
