He said during the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkasters sa Pilipinas (KBP) forum in Dagupan on Thursday that the average increase was just PHP28.

Bose said the HEIs conducted consultations with students and their parents as well as other stakeholders and agreed on the percentage of increase to be charged per students.

These HEIs submitted all the documents about their consultations to the CHEd as early as December last year for the commission’s study .

Under the guidelines, HEIs can apply for tuition increase every year provided they can comply with all the requirements.

As to report that sometimes the miscellaneous fees being charged by HEIs are equal and even higher than the school tuition, Bose said they could not strop such an increase but could only regulate and supervise it.

The miscellaneous fees are services being given by HEIs to students like for laboratory, dental, sports and others. lvmicua/PNA-northboundasia.com
