Army arrests couple in ‘drug trade’ at Maguindanao checkpoint

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – Two suspected drug personalities were apprehended by troops of the 2nd Mechanized Battalion, Philippine Army at a checkpoint in Barangay Meta, Datu Unsay, Maguindanao Tuesday morning.

The suspects, June Usman and Sharrie Mae Yuson, both residents of Barangay Rosary Heights 10, Cotabato City, were found in possession of eight sachets of suspected shabu and caliber super 38 with two magazines.

Encinas said also recovered from the suspects were improvised tooter, foil, assorted lighters, a sim card, three cellphones, android tablet, necklace and money worth PHP26,442. Both were turned over to the Datu Unsay police station for proper disposition.

Major General Arnel Dela Vega, 6th Infantry Division (ID) commander, commended the troops for the apprehension and urged them to continue the efforts against illegal drugs.

Units under the 6th ID have put up checkpoints along major highways in Maguindanao following President Duterte’s declaration of martial law in Mindanao.
