Rainy season starts

MANILA — Occurrence of widespread rainfall recorded in most Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) stations monitored in the last five days under Type 1 climate confirms onset of the rainy season, the agencyannounced Tuesday afternoon.

Intermittent to continuous rains and thunderstorms associated with the southwest monsoon will continue to affect Metro Manila and western section of the country.

Most parts of the country are likely to experience near- to above-normal rainfall conditions in the next two months (June-July).

However, breaks in the rain events may also occur that can last for several days to weeks due to persistence of the ridge of the North Pacific high-pressure area.

PAGASA said it will continue to closely monitor the situation and updates/advisories shall be issued as appropriate.

The public and all concerned agencies are advised to takeprecautionary measures against impacts of the rainy season. PR/PNA-northboundasia.com
