LAOAG CITY —The Diocese of Laoag is calling on the faithful to pray for the resolution of the crisis in Marawi City.
President Rodrigo Duterte declared martial law in Mindanao Tuesday night following clashes between the terrorist Maute Group and government forces in Marawi.
Regardless of faith or religion, Monsignor Carlito Ranjo Jr., spokesperson of the Diocese of Laoag, appealed to all Ilocos residents to be one in prayer “for our brothers and sisters in Mindanao who are affected by the hostilities.”
The Catholic church in the diocese also condemned the terror attacks involving innocent civilians in Marawi, including a priest and church workers who were taken as hostages.
“We pray not only for the victims but also for the City of Marawi, that there shall be peace and unity in the area soonest,” Ranjo said. LGA/PNA-northboundasia.com
