TUGUEGARAO CITY — the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2 is strictly monitoring the prices of school supplies in Cagayan Valley region.
DTI-02 information officer Manilyn Ponce on Friday said there was no recorded violation on the Suggested Retail Prices (SRPs) on all prices of school supplies in the region to date.
The DTI is monitoring the prices of school materials to ensure that no retailer will take advantage of the season to unjustly raise their prices, Ponce added.
DTI has continued to conduct regular monitoring on the prices and supply of office and school supplies.
The agency also encouraged establishments to post the SRPs of different school materials for the information and reference of the public.
The retailers who will be found to be selling at very high prices can be fined with PHP20,000 to a maximum of PHP1,000,000 while criminal penalties under the Price Act include imprisonment from five up to 15 years. SCDilan/PNA-northboundasia.com
