BAGUIO CITY — Two persons were arrested after combined anti-narcotics agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Cordillera and the local police searched a residence in Abra’s capital town of Bangued.
Joseph Frederick Calulut, PDEA-Cordillera information officer, said the team, armed with a search warrant, swooped down on the residence of Arlene Castillo Landa alias “Liberty”, 43, in Bangbangar, Bangued, Abra on Thursday.
The search yielded seven heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP35,000, several drug paraphernalia, an Armscor caliber .45 pistol and a magazine containing five live ammunition.
Calulut said also arrested was Jeffrey Bisares Nuñez alias “Ekong”, 39, and a foreman of a local electric cooperative.
The two are included in the list of drug personalities in the town.
Cases for violation of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia) of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects.
They will also be charged with cases for violation of Republic Act Number 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. Liza Agoot/ PNA-northboundasia.com
