2 suspects fall in separate anti-drug operations in Baguio

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — Two alleged members of different local drug groups were arrested by combined agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera (PDEA-CAR) and the local police late afternoon Monday in Baguio City.

Joseph Frederick Calulut, PDEA-CAR information officer, said Tuesday that Arnold Tinasa Tage, 45, a resident of Upper Ambiong, La Trinidad, Benguet, was arrested during an anti-drug operation at around 5:30 p.m. in Padcal, Baguio City.

An hour after, another team of PDEA-CAR agents, together with the local police, nabbed Jerold Bulwag Valdez after he sold two heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu worth PHP 1,000 to a poseur-buyer at Campo Filipino, Baguio City.

Valdez, a 24-year old drug surrenderer and a resident of the same barangay, yielded the money used during the sting operation after his arrest.

Both suspects are now temporarily detained at the PDEA-CAR jail facility pending the filing of criminal cases under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Tarla F. Tingal and Dionisio Dennis Jr./PNA-northboundasia.com
